After Karina posted about this recently, Bikini Body Burn has received thousands of emails and DM’s asking about Apple Cider Vinegar, or ACV as well call it. Because in case you’re based outside of Australia, us Aussies love to shorten everything!
So what is it?
ACV is a type of vinegar that is made from apple cider. During fermentation, ACV forms probiotics and enzymes. ACV has loads of benefits:
- It kills the bad bacteria in your gut which aids digestion, which in turn increases your energy levels as well as decreases bloating.
- It increases the hormone leptin, which is the hormone that tells your body that it is full, which helps you reduce food intake.
- It lowers cholesterol, which improves heart health and can lower your blood pressure. All great things!
- It is proven to aid weight loss. This might be due to the ACV itself or a secondary benefit as a result from a primary benefit, either way – it's a weight loss. (Side note, if weight loss is your goal, please don't rely solely on ACV to reach your goal. You will hardly see a result if all you do is take ACV. For the best results, pair this supplement with healthy eating and exercise).
I got Karina onto ACV midway through 2017. She found that it improved her gut health and really increased her energy level. Karina got her boyfriend, Ryan, onto it - and within a week of taking it the sore throat he had had for MONTHS disappeared. In my opinion, ACV is a must!
ACV is sold in health food shops and is now also stocked in all the major supermarkets in Australia. I buy mine from Aldi for $4. Cheaper than a coffee.
I recommend 30mls of ACV in the mornings. And as it isn’t great tasting, you could try it with half a cup of juice or with water and a teaspoon and honey.
Have any more questions about supps? I have written a whole section in EAT about supplements, covering off on the 14 most common and whether or not you should take them.
Wishing you an amazing day!
