The problem is, that for you as a customer, there are so many ideas, opinions, plans and potions floating around, surrounding the ‘ideal’ bikini body goal, that it can be huge struggle just figuring out where to start.
With so much misleading information circulating, it can be extremely hard to figure out where to focus your time and energy.
Put simply though, when it comes to losing body fat and gaining muscle, there are really only couple of things you have to do to guarantee success; do the right mix of resistance training and cardio training (mostly high intensity interval training – HIIT), whilst eating a nutritionally correct diet for your goals. Sounds simple, right!?
But a lot of girls out there that don’t get these simple things right. They don’t resistance train, they don’t eat the right things, and they overload their body with excessive cardio, leading them to become what we call ‘skinny-fat’; this is where someone is skinny but still has a high amount of body fat, not the perfect mix for that Summer bikini body!
A lot of girls think that doing resistance training, especially with weights, will make them big and bulky. This is false! Females don’t have enough muscle building hormones to create lots of muscle. However, they do have enough to firm their body and change their shape!
It is for this reason that we strongly encourage strength and resistance training – in fact, it’s the entire reason we developed The Bandbook! If you want to see results, and wish to continue to shape and sculpt your body in the direction you want and get the results you desire, there’s no way around it; you need to incorporate resistance into your workouts.
Resistance training is the most effective way to build muscle. If you don’t increase your muscle mass, you won’t change your body shape. To change your body shape effectively, you need to incorporate resistance training into your weekly workout schedule, whilst also consuming your regular amount of calories, but increasing your protein intake.
Without resistance training you cannot change the shape of your body. Through the process of building small amounts of muscle, you will increase your metabolism. Increasing your metabolism will increase your body’s ability to burn fat while you are resting. When you have muscle, you will actually burn fat while you sit on the couch! How amazing is that!?
But, remember, you can’t rest on your laurels or your past performance. If you want to continue to see positive changes in your body and continue to reach your goal as they shift and chance, you have to shift and change your resistance training – namely, progressively increasing the resistance you’re placing on your body.
If you are performing the same exercises with the same weight at the same intensity, all the time, your body will become used to it and will stop changing. Doing resistance training with body weight exercises is a really good place to start, but sooner or later you need to do more.
